MIT curriculum for computer science in 12 months

I didn’t read everything yet, but this looks interesting. I wonder what kind of background he started it with.

“Over the next 12 months, I’m going to learn the entire 4-year MIT curriculum for computer science, without taking any classes.”

Answers to some common questions:

How much did I work during the challenge? In the beginning roughly 60 hours/week. Later more like 35.

All his learning seems to be so compressed, it makes me wonder how much he retains. But no matter how much he retains, I’m still impressed he can focus on things that well for that much time.

I looked around to see what MIT students thought of it and found this discussion:

The MIT students make some good points.

And this sort of speed studying always reminds me of this:

Though Norvig has a bit of the cranky old man everyone-should-do-it-the-way-I-did attitude. And I, a sometimes cranky old man who took 7 years to finish grad school, no doubt find the advice to take one’s time with a subject especially appealing. :joy:
